  • Join the naturalist as we tune into nature using our senses through artistic perspectives.
  • See patterns and colors in nature you may not have noticed before.
  • Get creative with an easy art piece from materials provided by the naturalist.

  • Bluebirds and Bird Boxes

  • Meet the naturalist to see a variety of bird boxes that are helpful to have in your yard.
  • Learn where to put your birdbox, how to monitor them and how to attract the birds you want.
  • Understand why invasive birds can be harmful to the environment and how to control them.

  • Did you know there are 24 species of lightning bugs in Ohio?
  • Learn why these fascinating creatures are important.
  • Learn why they are disappearing and how you can help.

  • Try your skills through a creative game of flashlight tag inspired by the Morse Code.

  • Learn about the wonders of the dark night sky.

    Butterfly Census

    Do you like butterflies? Would you like to learn more about these winged creatures or share your knowledge? Please join the Caesar Creek Park Rangers for our annual count in conjunction with the North American Butterfly Association. NABA was formed to promote awareness of butterfly conservation and the benefits of butterfly gardening, observation, and education.   • Meet partner astronomy organizations, such as the Warren County Astronomical Society, The Miami Vally Astronomical Society and the Wright State Astronomical Collaboration.
  • Food and drinks will be available through the NCACC. All funds raised support our park, programs, and trails.
  • Free. Pre-registration though Eventbrite is suggested and appreciated. Overnight camping is not required to participate.
  • Details will be available on the Caesar Creek State Park Facebook page and Eventbrite as the event gets closer.

    Monarch Butterfly Day (Pre-registration is required, call 513-897-1050)
    Saturday, September 14th, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

    Take part in an international study that tracks the migration of the

    Monarch butterfly as it journeys toward Mexico. Help to capture, tag, and release the butterflies to help scientists understand how these fragile insects make the remarkable journey over 2,000 miles. Wear long pants and bring butterfly nets if you have them. Please pre-register for this event by calling the Visitor Center at 513-897-1050.

    November

    Owl Fest and Owl Moon
    November 1st, 2nd

    We will begin with the story, Owl Moon, which tells of a father and daughter on a winter hike in search of a Great-Horned Owl. After the story we will go in search of Caesar Creek owl species. In November, owls re-establish territories and prepare for nesting. Please dress for the weather and bring a flashlight if you have one. Registration is required for Owl Moon and is a Friends of Caesar Creek Program, $2 per person. To register, call the Visitor Center at 513-897-1050.



    December

    Audubon Christmas Bird Count
    Thursday, December 19th, 8:00 am

    Calling all birders! We need your help with our 20th Annual Caesar Creek Lake / Spring Valley Marsh Christmas Bird Count. For early risers we will look and listen for owls at 5:00 am. We will regroup at the Visitor Center at 8:30 am, break into teams and search for waterfowl and songbirds. We will meet at the Visitor Center at 12:00 pm for a hot lunch sponsored by the Friends of Caesar Creek. Experts and beginners are encouraged to attend. Come out for all or part of the day.
